My new favourite stationery design company is Blue Pool Road in Los Angeles. Peggy Wong, owner has a CV of experience to kill in art direction and she has a great eye for design which shows so well in her stationery.
I love her love notes. I have never sent a love note before on such beautiful stationary but Peggy has motivated me to start.

Pre-dating Kate Spade’s books on Manners came Emily Post’s 1922 book titled Etiquette in Society, Business, Politics and Home which can be found on Amazon.com here. Emily Post, originally from Baltimore, married and moved to New York in the early 1900s where she developed her voice and career writing about architecture, interior design, and etiquette. Wildly popular, her book Etiquette became and authority on how to behave in society like a lady. Ms. Post’s work continues today post mortem via the Emily Post Institute by her great grandson’s wife, Peggy Post.

The long orientation of the room lends itself to dining on long, elegant tables and the lovely lights hanging from the ceiling is perfect for creating a romantic glow.

The site has tones of resources on flowers, venues, dresses, gifts and anything else you should need to pull off a successful party.

I saw this picture about a year or two ago in Business Week Magazine and something prompted me today to think about the interior design by Philip Treacy of the G Hotel in Ireland.
I was thinking about venues that don’t require a lot of decor and that speak for themselves. I was involved in organizing two wine tasting tours this week in Montreal and Toronto. Both venues had enough of a backdrop to reduce the need to buy flowers and gussy up the room.
Somehow my train of thought led me back to the image below from the boutique hotel in Ireland. Wouldn’t it be fun to hold an event in this room? All you would have to do is to rent a long black table for 12, find some white or black table top accessories, maybe a pink flower or two if you can bare to add more pink and you’ve got yourself a memorable backdrop to an event.

I feel like a lot of cool letterpress work comes out of Brooklyn. Every time I look for new and different examples of letterpress, I end up back in New York! Here is another great example of the talent coming out of Brooklyn: Linda & Harriet. I was drawn to this company’s stationery for its very cool handwritten letter press card. I think it looks pretty impressive and I am happy to have stumbled across the find on the Sprague Lab blog.

The website to Les Chocolats de Chloe reminded me of the website I wrote about in Paris a while back. The owner chose to simulate the shop where guests can come in and browse, click on items to read about them while the animated characters move around.
I was just in Montreal on Monday and Tuesday of this week but sadly did not have a chance to make it over to this cute, little store.
However, I thought I would share the site as the brand was recommended to me as having great chocolate.

I spent five years traveling back and forth between Toronto and China and I am sorry to say, I was not in the country when this event took place in Beijing for the Fendi Fall Winter 2007/2008 collection.
It doesn’t get much cooler than having a fashion show on the Great Wall of China itself.
